Forgery.

⠀⠀⠀⠀Forged in 1684, Kashuu Kiyomitsu was forged by his namesake, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, under the school of Fujishiro.

⠀⠀⠀⠀Kashuu Kiyomitsu, the swordsmith, lived in the slums of the hinin (非人) by the river bank, who were part of the untouchable burakumin, an outcast group at the bottom of the Edo social order due to their unclean professions such as butchers, tanners and entertainers. The hinin were not allowed to work on rice fields so they lived by the river bank that was unsuitable for agriculture, thus they were also called people of the river bank (河原者).
⠀⠀⠀⠀Due to this, the Uchigatana Kashuu Kiyomitsu is also known as The Child Beneath The River or The Child of The River Banks.

⠀⠀⠀⠀The super-swordsmith Jo-saku, or supervisor, of the Fujishiro school was also the supervisor of the Shodai school, the school in which Yamatonokami Yasusada belongs under. Jo-Saku is the one responsible for making both Kashuu and Yamatonokami good, but difficult to master katanas.

Okita Souji.

⠀⠀⠀⠀Throughout the course of his life, Kashuu Kiyomitsu had various masters that remain unnamed and unknown.

⠀⠀⠀⠀Somewhere along the line, he was picked up by Shinsengumi First Unit Captain, Okita Souji. Okita was one of Kashuu's only masters to be able to fully master him as a blade and take advantage of all aspects of his design.

⠀⠀⠀⠀In 1864, the infamous Ikedaya Incident occurred. Okita brought Kashuu Kiyomitsu into battle with him, where the tip of Kashuu's blade broke off -- ultimately resulting in being deemed unrepairable; resulting in Okita eventually abandoning the sword and leaving him behind.
